SAN PABLO CITY – In support of the Farmers and Fisherfolk Month this May, Seven Lakes FARMC celebrated its 4th Tilapia Festival recently at the vicinity of Sampaloc Lake, this city.
According to Mr. Edison Y. Jaramillo, President of FARMC and Regional Fisherfolk Director, this year’s theme: “Kabuhayan para sa Kaunlaran at Kasaganaan” inspired San Pablenos to showcase PITONG (7) PUTAHE NG TILAPIA, PITONG (7) LAWA NG SAN PABLO. Participants had the chance to taste for free the delicious Tilapia Pinangat, Tilapia Escabeche, Tilapia Afritada, Ginataang Tilapia, Inihaw na Tilapia, Tilapia Steak, at Adobong Tilapia.
Laguna Governor Teresita S. Lazaro, in a rare opportunity, delivered her message while barefooted afloat a balsa with SBM Atty. Karen Agapay, to the delight of the fisherfolks. She emphasized that San Pablenos and Lagunenses should be proud of the seven lakes, since there are no other cities in the world which have seven lakes in one city.
Meanwhile, guests and participants enjoyed watching the Relay Fun Run, Karera ng Balsa (Men, Women and Mixed Categories), the Tug-Of-War afloat in a balsa, the Samson ng Pitong Lawa and the Diwata ng Pitong Lawa. Other dignitaries include Board Member Rey Paras, Ms. Nieva Monton of the City Agriculture Office, and officials from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
