RELASYON NG PNP AT MILITAR SA LUNSOD MAS TUMIBAY

San Pablo City - Nagkaisa ang San Pablo PNP at Armed Forces of the Philippines na magtulungan upang higit na maisulong ang katahimikan at kaayusan sa lunsod na ito at paligid bayan sa isinagawang pagpupulong ng Peace and Order Council (POC) kamakailan.

Ang pakikiisa ay inihayag ni 202nd Brigade Commander Col. Tristan Kison sa harap ng mga stakeholder na kinabibilangan ng PNP, BJMP, BFP, DOJ, DENR, mga NGO’S at iba’t-ibang ahensya ng pamahalaang lokal at nasyunal sa pangunguna ng DILG.

Iminungkahi ni Col. Kison ang paglulunsad ng isang programa na magpapatibay sa relasyon ng AFP-PNP sa komunidad upang matamo ang patuloy na kapayapaan sa lunsod at buong lalawigan. Nakapaloob sa kanyang panukala ang madalas na pakikipagtalastasan sa mga opisyal ng barangay at mga residente nito upang alamin ang kanilang suliraning pangkatahimikan para sa kaukulang alalay sa taumbayan.

Agarang sinangayunan ni P/Supt. Joel Pernito, Chief of Police ng lunsod ang suhestyon ni Kison sapagkat aniya’y talagang epektibo ang naturang panukala batay sa kanilang ipinatutupad na barangay visitation. Ibayong tulong din sa katahimikan ng lunsod ang intelligence sharing na nakapaloob dito ayon pa sa hepe ng kapulisan.

Ang pulong ng POC ay dinaluhan din nina Asst. Provincial Prosecutor Florante D. Gonzales, J/S Insp. Arvin T. Abistillas, SPC Secretary to the Mayor Rudy Laroza at mga personaheng nagmamalasakit sa katahimikan ng lunsod. (NANI CORTEZ)

EDIPISYO NG CITY HALL, IPINAGAMIT NI AMANTE SA LANDBANK

San Pablo City- Umabot na sa humigit kumulang na 7,000 ang nabayaran ng Land Bank of the Philippines simula nang ipagamit ng lokal na pamahalaan ang mga edipisyong Pamana Hall at One Stop Shop sa ilalim ng Pantawid Kuryente Katas ng VAT subsidy program ng pambansang pamahalaan sa mga below 100 KW end user ng Meralco.

Ang pagpapagamit sa mga naturang edipisyo ay bilang tugon ni Mayor Vicente B. Amante sa mga karaingang nakarating sa kanyang tanggapan sa unang araw nang pagdagsa ng mga claimants sa sangay ng Land Bak, kung saan ay kanyang napag-alaman na maraming nagtitiyaga sa pagpila sa ilalim ng init ng araw.

Ikinatuwa ng mga taga Land Bank ang kagandahang-loob ng alkalde sapagkat nagbigay ito ng kasiguruhan sa kaligtasan ng mga claimants laban sa anumang sakuna at kaukulang proteksyon sa mga nabanggit laban sa anumang sakuna at kaukulang proteksyon sa mga nabanggit laban sa init ng panahon o biglang pag-ulan. Nagbigay din ito ng kaluwagan sa mga kawani ng naturang bangko at mga support group buhat sa DSWD bukod pa sa mga tauhang pinatulong ng punong lunsod na umalalay sa mga claimants.

Ang mga tumanggap ng P500 subsidy ay nagbuhat sa lunsod na ito, mga bayan sa ikatlong purok ng Laguna at mga bayan ng Tiaong at Dolores sa Quezon.

WHO IS NANI CORTEZ?

What is in a name? Name is nothing but a group of letters put together to produce a distinct sound every time it is read and pronounced. A name is insignificant unless it is attached to a specific thing like a statue or to a specific place like birth city of a noted personality like a hero or to a person with sterling qualities. The name is use to recon something worth remembering or worth talking about. A name factors in as a universal denominator of his value to fellow. That is in a name. The personality behind the name give it value and the worth to his environment.

In a name like ERNANI “NANI” CASTILLO CORTEZ is there something to ring a bell? It is a plain name to other with nothing but trivial meaning. It is a naught analogous to hundreds perhaps thousand bearing the calling in many places with Spanish sounding languages but for us in Seven Lakes Press Corps the name Nani Cortez signifies the presidency of the corps, the unassuming writer, a media man who never get tired in search for truth and part it to his readers. Not the value in term of peso of a scoop but the worth of a story. He is a true blue blood media man who checks and double checks his facts before releasing them for publication.

Nani Cortez is a reporter whose prose can give life and excitement to otherwise monotonous events. He gives dept into one-dimensional story with his razor-sharp analyses and pointed correlations of them to persons and personalities creating the news. How it impacts every one thus, giving a local news national significant and national news local relevance is patent in his hypothesis. He is an under-rated writer in term of acknowledgment and of course in term of compensation. Had he chose to hang about in national broad sheet and be an AC/DC correspondent he could have been a affluent man now. Who are Batuigas and Tulpos to his writing prowess?

But his being is designed to be of service to local communities. He finds fulfillment writing about real people not the ones whose images were created by media releases for specific ends. He rather shares his talents with budding reporters whose minds have not been polluted and corrupted by the system of formatted journalism.

Yes Nani opted a simple living around many straightforward friends. Big politicians woe him to become their public relation writer but he loves independence of mind. He loves to inscribe what he thinks merit writing even without incentive. He supports cause and meaningful thoughts, something that will promote the enhancement of the majority meaning the masses and not spouse selfish interest. Going out of his way to drive his message is not novel to him. Not the gold or gun could bring to a halt his exposes but a whisper from esteemed buddy can tame the fang of his bites.

SAN PABLO CITY- Nasa larawan si Gold Medalist Asean Chess Player Carl Angelo Dizon-Perez ng Barangay San Roque, Lunsod ng San Pablo. Napagwagian ni Carl Angelo at ng kanyang mga ka-team ang medalyang ginto at ang unang karangalan sa katatapos lamang na 9th Asean Age Group Chess Championship na ginanap sa Danang, Vietnam noong nakaraang Hunyo 9-17 na nilahukan ng lahat na bansa ng Southeast Asia at humigit kumulang na 40 Chess player. SUBSIDIZED EDUCATION SA SAN PABLO, KAKAIBA

Sa ginugugol ng Pamahalaang Lunsod ng San Pablo sa ating City College na DLSP na umaabot sa mahigit na P20M kada taon ay walang duda na maituturing na mga iskolar ng bayan ang humigit kumulang na 4,000 mag-aaral na naka-enroll doon ngayong school year, dahil batid nating lahat na maliit na bahagdan lang ng halagang ito ang bumabalik sa lokal na pamahalaan at ang kakulangan ay pinupuno sa pamamagitan ng subsidiya.

Bilang pagpapahalaga ng Adming Vic Amante sa mga mahihirap na mag-aaral ay kaylan man ay hindi nito naisip na itaas ng sakdal ang tuition fee upang pagkakitaan ito ng tisorerya ng lunsod o dili kaya’y iyong tinatawag na maka break-even man lamang. Hindi rin kaylan man naisip ng lokal na pamahalaan na magbawas ng mag-aaral na maaaring tanggapin ng DLSP upang makatipid ng gastusin.

Ito ang ginagawa ngayon ng ilang State University and Colleges (SUC’s) na buhat sa panig na pang-serbisyo ay ginawang negosyo ang edukasyon sa pakiwari.

Nang nakaraang taon ang University of the Philippines (UP) ay nagtaas ng tuition ng 300% na ibig sabihin ay tatlong ulit ang gastusing kailangan upang doon ay makapag-aral. Ang Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST) na pag-aari ng gobyerno ay nagpatupad ng pagtataas ng 600%, na marahil ay hindi upang kumita manapa’y ang magbawas ng mag-aaral. Makaraan nito ay nabawasan ang enrollment nila ng 50%.

Noong 2003 ay 400% ang itinaas ng tuition sa Philippine Normal University (PNU) at ang Polytechnic University of the Philippine (PUP) ay nakatakdang magtaas ng 525% sa tuition, hindi lamang naipatupad dahilan sa pagtutol ng mga mag-aaral.

Ang isa pang kaparaanang ginagawa ng ibang SUC’s ay ang pagbabawas ng budget sanhi sa kakapusan ng pondo ng operasyon.

Alin man sa mga nabanggit ay hindi sumagi, ni sa hinagap sa isipan ni Mayor Vicente B. Amante na ipatupad. Mas lumobo ang enrollment ng DLSP sa ngayon, mas lumaki ang subsidiyang ibinibigay sa mga iskolar ng bayan at ni hindi tinitipid ang mga kabataang mag-aaral na uhaw sa karunungan.

Ito ang kaibahan ng DLSP sa ibang SUC’s na pinamumunuan ng ilang hindi marunong magmalasakit sa kanilang mga mag-aaral. Himig negosyo ang ipinatutupad sa pagpapalaganap ng edukasyon, sa kabila ng katotohanang ang mga paaralang ito ay pag-aari ng pamahalaan, na madalas makaringgan ng salitang LUGI. Ngunit sino ba ang malulugi kung ang bawat mamamayan ay napagkakalooban mo ng edukasyon?

UNITED FOR THE POOR

Two weeks ago, while the Province of Laguna was at the limelight of national media coverage with historic signing of Cheaper Medicine Bill by Her Excellency, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo – thereafter now known as (RA 9502) Universally Accessible Cheaper and Quality Medicines Act of 2008, a vivid revelation of unity was achieved where all four representatives of the province, no matter what political persuasions and affiliation were, when the interest of their constituents are at stake, crosses party lines and speak as one on pro-poor legislations.

One of the rare moment standing as one, though they the have the same direction on Laguna Lake Development issue, this clever action deserve to be emulated considering their varied political inclinations. Cong. Dan Fernandez (1st district) is aligned to PDSP, Cong. Timmy Chipeco is LDP, Cong. Ivy Arago is LP and Cong. Egay San Luis is Independent. Party principles this time were no object and for the benefit of their poor constituents these lawmakers will march on common goal.

Another revelation presented on the historic signing of RA 9502 was the support given by local officials to the Chief Executive from Gov. Teresita Lazaro and all provincial officials, and the presence of City and municipal mayors during the ceremony at the grounds of Laguna Provincial Hospital. Those who were not seen there, were the welcoming party for the president’s engagement in Biñan where PGMA inaugurated a pharmaceutical firm.

Mayor Vicente B. Amante had proven his critics wrong when he established San Pablo City National High School and built 12 high school annexes strategically located within the city’s 80 barangays during his first four terms as city executive. Last year it has a total enrollment to a close 13,000 students and this school year the safe estimate would be near 15,000 composed mostly of poor but deserving students.

Four years ago Mayor Amante also fought for the establishment of San Pablo City Science High School for the benefits of qualified students with extra-ordinary intelligence for better enhancement. This school rank 3rd in 2008 Regional Achievement Test amongst school in the entire Region 4.

The greatest contribution of Amante in the field of education can’t be match by no other except himself when he pushed ten years ago for the charter of Dalubhasaan ng Lunsod ng San Pablo (DLSP). It has produced successful graduates since then. This city college house almost 4,000 students subsidized by the local government of San Pablo City. (NANI CORTEZ)
